It’s difficult to think anything but pleasant thoughts while eating a homegrown tomato.” – Lewis Grizzard

“CSA” you say?

Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a rewarding partnership between a farm and a family where consumers receive all-natural, sustainably grown produce while knowing exactly how, where and by whom it was grown. In a CSA, a farmer pre-sells “shares” of the farm’s upcoming harvest. Consumers benefit by receiving local, freshly-harvested produce, which enables the farm to continue their mission of growing sustainable produce.

Selectable Delectables

Here at Oak Hart Farm we are offering a twist on the traditional CSA. In a typical CSA, shareholders are given boxes of produce without a choice of what is taken home. Oak Hart Farm’s Selectable Delectables offers families the opportunity to purchase a share in the farm and have a choice each week to select what produce goes in the box you take home.

Farm shareholders will come to the farm once a week on Wednesdays to pick-up and pick-out their weekly produce. Produce will be displayed in share quantities and shareholders select each of the varieties of produce they would like for their family. Most weeks there is a surplus of at least one particular produce item. Shareholders may also choose more of that surplus item. Each week customers will have 8 – 20 varieties of produce from which to choose.

The season runs from approximately May 25th, to September 8.  We will announce the start date two weeks prior to the first pickup.  A large share is designed to provide a family of four or more with enough produce to last the week. A small share feeds one to three people in the same style.

Shares consist primarily of delicious vegetables that are harvested the day prior to the pickup. This ensures the freshest and most nutritional value possible. We also will offer a variety of fruits grown on our farm, or procured from farms within 20 miles of our farms. Each week we will provide a variety of fresh herbs and recipes to assist in your weekly meal planning.

In addition to produce shares, customers will have the option of purchasing weekly cut-flowers and/or an herb share. If a shareholder chooses a flower share they will receive a beautiful bouquet of organically grown flowers and herbs each week. If an Herb Share is chosen, they will receive a large bunch of culinary and/or medicinal herbs each week with an explanation/and or recipes on how to use them.
