Greetings, Oak Hart Family and Friends!

We hope this day found you enjoying the glorious spring weather. Here, we are fully reveling in the season, doing our best to be faithful stewards. It is such an optimistic season, with plants putting on growth almost before our eyes. It’s delightful to envision the bounty to come! Unfortunately – the bounty isn’t here yet, and the verdant growth hasn’t yet become harvestable crops. But it will, and soon.

We deeply appreciate all of you who popped in last week to offer support and encouragement, and we can’t wait to share that future harvest with you, our amazing community.

MARKET UPDATE

We have some seed packets available in the market!
Many people think it’s too late to start seeds for the season, but we’re here to assure you it is NOT!!

NOW is the perfect time to plant:

Greens and Lettuce: The cooler weather is great for germinating these seeds, and a good harvest is possible before the heat of summer. Plus, ask us for recommendations for heat-tolerant varieties that’ll go longer, even as it warms up!

Beans: Now that the soil is warming up, its a good time to stick a few beans in the ground. They germinate easily, and (depending on the variety you choose) will scramble up a fence or trellis and provide a harvest in just a couple months!

Squash: Want a lot of veg from a single plant? Grow squash! Yellow or zucchini, either will provide you a satisfying harvest. 

Cucumbers: We have pickling and fresh eating varieties – just like with squash and beans, the big seeds are easy and fun to plant and the potential harvest is tremendous. 

Flowers: We have a lovely assortment of flowers that are satisfyingly easy to grow from seed. Zinnias, calendula and sunflowers are all easy to grow and provide good forage for insects
